Sunny Days

This weekend was rainy and gloomy but still very productive with lots of spring cleaning and visiting our friends' baby Ava-what a cutie!

We enjoyed the weather today and so did the pups!

Biker Bling

I can't believe how gorgeous the weather has been! I am praying it stays this way for a few more weeks. I love riding my bike to work on a beautiful day. It's also NOLA Navy week and those sailors all around town are great eye candy. I need to get some pictures while I'm not riding.

Turtle Time...

After an fun-filled weekend work got me down yesterday and a trip to the pet store was needed to lift my spirits (and buy toys for the dogs). I saw this turtle and it immediately cheered me up!

Thank goodness for the little things in life that can make you smile :)

Biking, Boiling an Festing!

This weekend kicked off festival season with French Quarter Fest, the largest free musical festival in the country.

Friday started off with a crawfish boil at my office which was lots of fun!

Then on Saturday we rode our bikes to the ferry then rode it over to the west bank for another boil with some friends.

We ended the night Festing and seeing one our our favorite bands, Honey Island Swamp Band (they played at our wedding)

Sunday I went to a bridal luncheon which was at Ste. Marie and yummy with 25-cent mimosas!

Then it was back to Festing it up! I'm exhausted and going to spend the night in with the husband celebrating our 6 months of marriage :)

Learning to Saw

Tonight I took an interesting jewelry making class with my friend Krell.

We were taught how to "saw" jewelry. It was tough work but a lot of fun.

Thomas Mann, a new orleans jewelry designer, taught the class and has a book about sawing-check him out here: http://www.thomasmann.com/

It was fun but tough work so I'm going to keep my day job and spend that money on buying his jewelry.

Shrimp & Orzo Pasta

Tonight my hubby and I cooked another healthy meal. Although he did most of the cooking this is my favorite recipe and I assumed my sous chef position.

The recipe is super easy and yummy, here's the recipe:

Shrimp & Orzo Pasta
3/4 lb of orzo
1/2 cup lemon juice (3 lemons)
2 lbs shrimp
1 cup scallions
1 cucumber (finely diced)
1 cup parsley (finely chopped)
1/2 cup red onion (finely chopped)
1 bell pepper (finely chopped)
3/4 lb feta cheese
Ground pepper
Salt
1/2 a cup Olive oil

Pre-heat oven to 400 F

Boil orzo for 9-11 mins

Place the shrimp on a foil lined baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Roast in the oven for 6 minutes.

Toss everything in a bowl and serve warm or chilled.

Bon appetite!

I want to ride my bicycle

Brett and I have been riding our bikes to work recently, well really me recently he has been doing it for a while.

The weather has been nice and won't last long before it become sweltering so enjoying the extra exercise and fuel savings while we can!
